Project Description

Take the phone you love so much out of your pocket. Your goal is to develop next year's new design of your cell phone. This means if you have an iPhone 11, you are designing the iPhone 12 etc... Each student will create a drawing of their design on AutoCAD.

Be sure to develop your new phone using real world dimensions (In other words...design a phone you would use, not one thats 1 foot wide...)

Phase Descriptions

Phase 1: Project Selection and Design Review

Conduct a design review of your phone. Identify primary features, and conduct critical observations and ratings of features. Make sure to rate your primary features to try to identify possible improvements. Use the Design Review Template. You must submit a PDF of the Google Doc to this assignment.

Phase 2: Product Innovations and Redesigns

Develop product improvements or innovations and redesigns of primary features and overall aesthetics of your product. Develop hand sketches of your new product. Be sure to include multiple views and dimensions of your product. Use engineering graph paper. You must develop at the very minimum of 3 improvements or innovations.

Phase 3: Product Modeling

Create an AutoCAD Drawing
- Use a Metric Engineering Template
- Hatch your design to make it look attractive
- Create all 6 views, the Front, Back, Top, Bottom, Right Side and Left Side View Views of your phone, and line up your views correctly
- Upload PDF Drawings

Phase 4: Documentation

Develop a Design Brief
- Develop a Design Brief
  - This design brief should be written in a Google Doc
  - You may use the following Design Brief Template, or create your own with the same Key Features. Submit a PDF of the Google Doc to this assignment when completed.

Phase 5: Presentation

Develop a Design Brief Presentation
- Google Slides Presentation
- Create a quick 3-5 minute presentation to convey:
  - Product details
  - Innovations and Redesigns
  - A comparison between the previous model and your model, highlighting the innovations and redesigns
  - Design Brief Summary
